Icarus to Face Winchmore Hill in Cup Final

Rovers

Icarus are set to meet Winchmore Hill in the final of the Middlesex/Essex Cup on Saturday 27 March. The Southern Amateur League side will provide tough opposition from a league with a good reputation for playing the passing game.

Meanwhile, the Vets will take on Old Wokinghians on Saturday 13 March at the beginning of a busy period for the Club which will see fixtures against the TA, Doncaster Rovers, the Cup Final and Bromley Vets.

27 Feb 10
Icarus Beat Hale End to Reach Cup Final

Parr for the course

Icarus beat Hale End Athletic 2-1 after extra time at Uxbridge as Jase Parr scored his first goal for the Club.

Icarus went a goal behind in the first half against the run of play, but a strong second half performance saw Parr equalise with a powerful header from a Joe Griffin corner.

Icarus could not find the second goal in normal time and it took a dramatic own goal from a superb Joe Griffin free kick with only 6 minutes of extra time remaining to win the tie.

26 Feb 10
Icarus to Play Doncaster Rovers

Rovers

The Club have confirmed that a fixture has been agreed with Doncaster Rovers at Doncaster on Wednesday 24 March.

Griffin Injury Boost for Icarus

Griffo

Icarus received a boost today with the news that Joe Griffin has been given the go ahead to resume training following his broken toe. The midfielder and head coach will now be in contention for the Cup Semi Final on 27 February.

13 Feb 10
HAC Fixture Off

Beerman

Today's Vets Fixture against the HAC has been postponed. Manager Pete Beer is said to be very disappointed after assembling an excellent squad for the game.

Meanwhile, James Renders is due to have a MRI scan this afternoon. With several big fixtures still to come this season the Club are hoping for good news.

30 Jan 10
Cup Win!!

Schofield

Jim Schofield scored the only goal of a tough physical encounter at Uxbridge as Icarus progressed to the Middlesex Cup Semi-Final.

Icarus were slow to get started, but Portaluri and Hodgkinson could have given Icarus the lead in the first half, however, it was a great break by Martins-Tonks that resulted in a penalty a minute into the second half that Schofield dispatched under presure.

Icarus are now waiting to find out who awaits them in the semi at the end of February.

30 Jan 10
Vets start 2010 in Style

Hodge

Stu Lindsay grabbed his annual goal early this year as Icarus crushed Guildford Saints 8-2 today.

The goals came from Mark Farrell (2), Si Hays, Stu Lindsay, Ady Morris, Jon Pullen and Steve Wood (2). Manager Pete Beer told us, "it was a good performance and it is up to us to take this form into next month's clash with HAC".

29 Jan 10
Hodgkinson Hattrick Sinks Boston

Hodge

Andrew Arnison and Lee Hodgkinson both reached the remarkable milestone of 100 Caps for Icarus as they played their part in a stirring victory against a Boston Utd XI.

The goals game from Hodgkinson (3), Joyce and Arnison. Boston dominated possession in the first 35 minutes, but Icarus gradually forced them back with their physical presence and guile. After going in at the break 1-0 up a superb second half performance resulted in 4 more goals.

23 Jan 10
Icarus Win in Friendly

Renders

Icarus beat a London League XI 4-1 on Friday afternoon, with the goals coming from James Render, Tom Summerville (2) and Gino Portaluri. In a major blow, winger Render has damaged ligaments in his knee. The Club are currently waiting for the results of a scan to assess how long he will be out for.

After a slow start and a few Xmas cobwebs to blow away, Icarus did enough to beat a London League side containing some excellent players; but with Boston Utd arriving at Uxbridge Road on Thursday the players do not have time to rest on the laurels!

Mixed Results on Busy weekend

Scotty

Icarus cruised into the Middlesex Cup 1/4 Final with a 7-0 win against Globe Rangers on Saturday, but fell to the RAF Under 23's 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Tom Summerville grabbed a hat-trick in the Cup with Martins-Tonks, Render, Portaluri and Hodgkinson scoring the others.

A poor first half performance at Cosford saw Icarus trailing at half time to the U23s, but a strong second half showing meant that the players could travel home with some pride.

Another big plus from the weekend was the return to action of Dave Scott after 4 months away.

4 Dec 09

Kit

The Vets are in action again on Saturday against HAC in Central London. Beer's Boys are hoping to maintain their 100% record so far this season. Pete Beer told us, "HAC are tough opponents and I'm not sure when we last best them away from home, so the lads are up for it!"

The Vets are away to HAC in central London on Saturday and may go onto to have some Christmas drinks after the game. All Icarus members are welcome to go and support the team and join in after the game.

12 Nov 09
Icarus and RAF Senior Team

Kit

Icarus held the RAF team to a 0-0 draw in a training fixture last night at RAF Uxbridge. A threadbare Icarus squad played with superb patience and discipline to prevent the young RAF side from breaking them down.

Coach Joe Griffin was delighted with the days efforts, he told us, "we played superbly well in the first half and you wouldn't have known it was the first game of the pre-season. At the end of the day the fresh legs were crucial and the score does not reflect the performance!"

New Goal Keeper Mark Bowden made a great debut between the stick and Josh Fortune also made a return to the Icarus fold after 7 years in the wilderness.

Highlights will appear on IcarusTV soon.
