A much changed and threadbare Icarus team travelled to Lincolnshire for the third time in their pre-season preparation to face the 2015 RAF Cup winners, RAF Waddington. An experimental back four were quickly undone by the opposition and Waddington took the lead. Waddington quickly extended their lead further following a couple of individual errors before a change of Icarus shape appeared to halt the onslaught. Icarus began to get a foot hold in the game with Dixon creating a couple of half chances before Waddington scored with a breakaway goal. Going into half time 4-0 down is never easy but some words of encouragement and refocusing of minds saw a different mentality from Icarus in the 2nd half. A more aggressive approach almost paid off immediately with Yarwood closing down the opposition to force a half chance, only for the Waddington keeper to save. The high pressing continued which eventually resulted in Tyers winning a free kick 30 yards from goal. Hyndman stepped forward to smash the ball into the top corner, finally giving the visitors something to smile about. The pattern of the match was now much more even with both teams creating chances. It was Waddington who took one of those chances towards the end of the game to make the final score 5-1. An under par performance from Icarus ensured that Waddington were worthy winners.
