Icarus Senior Squad v Polytechnic Reserves

ICARUS characterisically gave their all against a physical Polytechnics team on a tiny and grassless pitch.
After going 1-0 down to a back post header from a corner after 10, Adam Hutchings popped up at the other end and levelled the scores. It was clear from the opening exchanges that the small nature of the pitch was going to lead to a battle of will. Polytechnics looked an organised side and it was clear to see how they had conceded so few over the season. With chances a plently and the very busy/capable Polytechnics goalkeeper preventing ICARUS from walking away successful after 90mins, extra time beckoned and despite coming out agressive, confident and very dominant, ICARUS went 2-1 down early in extra-time to a 30 yd worldly from the Polytechnic right wing.
 
After a nervous and dominant last 20mins from ICARUS where chanecs seemed to go begging flow a mighty Sean Tyres found himself in support of the forwards to win ball for the selfless Toogood who put on a perfect assist to Somerville to score and draw the game in the last minute of extra time.
 
Regrettably penalties did not go our way as we lost 5-4 in sudden death. This game will undoubtedly live long in the memories of many as the one that stopped the true possibility of a double cup winning season. We all gave an excellent and physical account of ourselves, showed true belief and a frightening bouncebackability that makes us proud to be ICARUS.
