After blustery over night storms, the RAF Officers' Team gathered at RAF Uxbridge for a vital Cup tie in the Middlesex Cup against Egbertians FC. Icarus began the game in confident fashion, controlling possession and looking dangerous around the penalty box. Andrew Martins-Tonks broke the deadlock after only 12 minutes when he latched on to a Ben Fisher through ball to score from 12 yards. It was that man again ten minutes later when he was the first to react after Gino Portaluri hit the post to fire home from 5 yards. Icarus were now in total control and Rich Pratley proved it beyond doubt when he picked the ball up on he half way line and managed to run with the ball all the way into the Egbertians penalty box before seeing his shot blocked. Lee Hodgkinson effectively ended the game as a competition with a wonderful 20 yard power dive into the top corner.

The second half began with Egbertians scoring almost straight from kick off as the wind took a cross into the goal. Icarus hit back through Hodgkinson. He recieved the ball with his back to goal just inside the Icarus half. Turning his man, he ran with the ball down the left flank, cutting into the box and unleashing an unstoppable drive into the goal from 15 yards. Portaluri got into the act scoring from a Hodgkinson pass and after John Hetehrington's shot was pushed out by the keeper, he was on hand to score his 9th of the season.

Icarus move into the 3rd round of the Middlesex Cup, the tie is due to be played on Saturday 12 December. Captain Lee Hodgkinson told us, "it was a good performance today, but with the Army and Royal Navy Under 23's still to play this month, we have to keep this form up!"
