Icarus FC today announced that Gary Mcintosh would be taking
on the role of Assistant First Team Manager.
Gary
has been in the Falkland Islands since November last year
and he is now looking forward to the new challenge of Icarus
First Team Number 2.
As an experienced coach Gary's main role until now has been
on the coaching field and at the heart of the back four, but
he will now be more actively involved in the dressing room
before games and engaged in team tactics with Manager John
Hetherington and Coach Joe Griffin.
About his tour in the Falkland Islands, Gary told us, "
It's been a busy tour and while I've been here I've played
footy against Stanley FC, spent 4 days on HMS Nottingham,
flown in a VC10, Hercules, Lynx and Sea King as well as seen
Elephant Seal, Penguins and Dolphins.
"I don't have long left down here and can't wait to assume
my new position as No2 to the Gaffer. I'm gutted I get back
the day after the London Amateur Cup Final as I am very confident
that we are going to go all the way this season. I would love
to be there but there is no chance of me getting back any
earlier."
Player
Manager, John Hetherington said, "I'm delighted to have
Gary move into this role, when the Chairman informed me he
had sanctioned the appointment I was over the moon. I have
worked closely with Tosh already this season as a coach and
I am already looking forward to his return."
